What is the NordicTrack T 6.5 S treadmill?

The NordicTrack T 6.5 S treadmill comes from NordicTack’s T series, an impressive series of treadmills that are built to last.

It has a nice, sleek design that would look great anywhere.  And despite its powerful 2.6 CHP motor, it's a very smooth running machine, and you’ll barely hear it.

It’s a good, solid build that can hold up to 300 pounds in weight (that’s over 21 stone), so it will take most people’s body weight.

It’s so well built in fact that you’ll never have to worry about it breaking down or freezing in the middle of a workout session.

It’s a lot more than just a basic treadmill however, and we’ll walk you through its many great features very shortly.

And of course, above all, you get to do all your workouts at home, without the self conscious feeling you get when you go to a gym.

What does the NordicTrack T 6.5 S treadmill have to offer?

The NordicTrack T 6.5 S treadmill is packed with features that can really enhance your workout both in terms of guiding and recording your workout performance but also in terms of improving the overall experience of your workout.

Unlike the large majority of treadmills out there on the market today, the surface that you run/jog/walk on with this treadmill has adjustable cushioning, so you choose just how soft or firm you want it to be.

And whilst many treadmills have a few different in-built training programs, the NordicTrack T 6.5 S has a whopping 20 different programs.

We think it’s great to have such programs in place because it gives you goals to work towards, tailors the workout to your specific requirements, and helps keep you on track.

And you can then extend your training library using the Google Maps TM program.  All right from the treadmill itself with just one tap of a button.

And when you use it with iFit, which we highly recommend, you can also monitor your various workout statistics, such as heart rate, calories burned and so on.

It’s also compatible with the iPhone, iPod, and iPad, so it’s great for Apple users who like to listen to music as they workout.  Great for keeping up your motivation levels!

As we mentioned earlier, the treadmill is rather quiet despite its power, and it's a noise that simply fades into the background, and shouldn’t wake anyone who might be sleeping nearby.

And when you’re done working out, you can simply fold it down and get it out of the way, saving valuable space.  It folds down quite compactly and once folded you should be able to store it away in a standard sized closet or store cupboard.

Full Review

Now that we’ve covered some of the main points, it’s time to examine different elements of the machine in more detail.

Build Quality

We’ve mentioned this already, but it’s worth repeating.  The NordicTrack 6.5 S has a powerful motor which won’t overheat, and the build is of such good quality and is so durable that the manufacturer’s warranty lasts for a staggering 25 years.  You could save loads of money in repairs and maintenance

Cushioning

Now this is one of the machine's really stand-out features, and is quite impressive if you ask us.  With its adjustable cushioning, you could either set the running surface to match a realistic road feel, or set it much softer for a more cushioned feel.

Built-in Workout Apps

Many modern day treadmills come with just 10 built in training programs, but not the NordicTrack 6.5 S.  It has 20 different built-in workout apps altogether, and they’re really pretty good.  You may find that you’ll hit your fitness targets much faster than you’d expect.

With 20 different training programs at your disposal, you can boost your workout intensity in increments that suit you, either improve gradually or go for a more epic workout.

Or alternatively, and this is a good idea, you could subscribe to the iFit program for even more choice and opportunity in your treadmill workouts.

LCD Display

It’s the treadmill’s 5 inch display screen that shows you where you are within your training program, displaying those all-important statistics as you go along in real time, and shows you, for example, how long is left of a particular element of your workout.

Folding Down

We love that you can fold the treadmill down when you’re not using it.  Let’s be honest a treadmill that’s always up can take up a lot of space and really dominate a room.  So it’s nice to have the option of packing it away when it’s not being used and get your living space back.  And it’s surprisingly easy to fold down too.

Heart Rate Monitor

The NordicTrack 6.5 S comes complete with CardioGrip sensors on each handlebar.  This way you can monitor your heart rate as you workout without the bother of any extra gadgets.  Monitoring of your heart rate is especially important if you want to do a full on cardio or HIIT workout, since it involves getting your heart rate up to a certain level in order to burn body fat.

Incline Level

If you were running or jogging outdoors, you would likely come to the occasional incline.  Well the NordicTrack 6.5 S can recreate such an experience minus any unwanted rain.  This is because you can set the treadmill at inclines of up to 10%.

And you don’t have to adjust the incline manually, it’s all done automatically for you.  Or if you hook it up to Google Map workouts, that app will take care of the incline for you.

The benefits of using the incline on the treadmill are many fold, they offer a bigger cardio challenge, you get extra muscle toning, and even better, it takes more pressure off your knees.

Running Surface

As we touched upon earlier, the NordicTrack 6.5 S provides extra cushioning on the running surface, and this is great for relieving pressure on your joints.  This is all thanks to the treadmills’ FlexSelect deck, and it also means that the running surface is also quite shock absorbent to boot.

So, now that we’ve covered so much about the NordicTrack 6.5 S, let’s break it down to some nice simple pros and cons.

Pros:

  • The machine is available with iFit training!
  • The NordicTrack T 6.5 S has built in speakers.
  • It’s a reliable machine that’s really built to last.
  • You can change the treadmill’s incline with the touch of a button.
  • You can fold the treadmill away when not in use and get your space back.
  • The NordicTrack T 6.5 S comes with unbeatable cushioning and running surface, making it a good choice for those who don’t want to put too much pressure on their knees.
  • Great for light to moderate cardio workouts including things like power walking, jogging and running.  And therefore great for those with moderate fitness goals.

Cons:

  • Not suitable for those who weigh over 300 pounds.
  • It’s only compatible with Apple devices, and not Android or Windows.
  • There’s no cup holder for your water bottle.
  • Not ideally suited for heavy running exercises that involve a greater running speed or incline than the machine can provide.

Conclusion

So, now we’ve really examined the NordicTrack T 6.5 S.  It goes beyond what you get with a regular treadmill, and offers a number of great features besides.

It’s become standard for treadmills to measure your heart rate and convey it back to you in real time, and it’s standard for such machines to offer different speeds at the touch of a button, and to feature a selection of built in workout programs.

But the two things that really make this treadmill stand out are the automatic incline to intensify your workout, both the cardio and the muscle toning, and the FlexSelect cushioned surface, which is great news for your knees.

You don’t have to sign up for the iFit training when you buy this machine, but if you’re serious about losing weight and getting fit, and if you’re an Apple device user then you should totally check it out.

Our final word on the matter is that the NordicTrack T 6.5 S is good value for money, is worth cost, and could help bring your health and fitness up to a much better level.
