What can the Proform ZT8 Treadmill do?
Having a treadmill in place at home can be somewhat of a godsend for those of us who either don’t like to exercise in public or who struggle to schedule in a trip to the local gym or don’t have time to make it to a fitness class of any sort.
What makes the Proform ZT8 Treadmill a good choice for use in the home is it’s space saving design. When you’re not using the machine, you can fold the machine down, which in itself can save a lot of space, and it also happens to be reasonably lightweight, so not only can you fold it down to save more space, you can move it somewhere else entirely. Once folded it becomes very compact and easy to store away.
Despite it’s fold away functionality, you may be surprised to hear that the Proform ZT8 Treadmill still has all the functionality of the sort of regular treadmill that you’d find in the top gyms.
The running surface, also known as the tread belt, is sufficiently wide and long for you to take each stride in comfort. And when selecting your workout plan, you have an array of 20 different built in workout programs to choose from.
And if you ever need to stop quickly or take a quick breather, your safety is guaranteed thanks to the side plates on either side of the tread belt, to allow you to regain balance and catch your breath as you reset the tread belt.
And by plugin in your audio equipment you can really enjoy your workout, perhaps pacing yourself to your favorite dance floor bangers, and really get in the zone and burn some serious calories.

Of course when buying a treadmill for use in the home, you need to know the dimensions to ensure you have the room for it, so, the Proform ZT8 treadmill measures 57.1 by 72.22 by 33.87 inches.
With regards to the tread belt, that comes in at a long 60 inches for the length, and the width measures 20 inches, so you can be assured that you’ll have plenty of room for all your walking, jogging and running.
It’s a powerful little machine which boasts a 2.75 horsepower motor, so you can be assured that the machine won’t slow down or freeze.
Basic Features seen in the Proform ZT8
As we’ve made reference to earlier, this treadmill being quite the space saver, with it’s fold away capacity and lightweight construction, meaning you can fold it away and store it very easily when it’s not in use. Many customers have been very impressed with this feature.
Yet despite its compact size when folded, it actually features a very roomy tread belt (running surface) and you won’t be left feeling at all confined, and you can stretch out every stride, regardless of whether you’re walking, jogging or running.
The tread belt is well made, designed to last year on year on year, and needs very very little in the way of maintenance.
And on the subject of being well made, the Proform ZT8 also features a commercial quality motor. Not only is this motor very powerful with 2.75 horsepower behind it, giving the treadmill all the speed you could want for your workout, but the motor is also very durable.
And together with the tread belt, the Proform ZT8’s motor offers a proven, smooth run, and the tread belt will stay cool regardless of what speed is set and it will not overheat.
And whilst still on the subject, the Proform ZT8 is so well built it can take the weight of people up to a rather heavy 325 pounds (that’s over 21 stone) as they walk, jog or even run. You’ll really need some kind of machine to take that much use and wear everyday!
The Proform ZT8 features a large display screen, measuring 6 inches to display all the stats you could want to measure. This includes such things as the distance covered, incline level, heart rate, speed, time expired and how many calories you’ve burned. How handy is that! The display screen is backlit, so you’ll always be able to read it.
With regards to the different workout programs available, there are 20 different options available altogether. You can concentrate if you wish on cardio and fat loss, or perhaps concentrate more on developing your stamina, and working on those leg muscles.
Basically you have complete freedom to choose the program that best suits your goals or preferred style. Or you could even give all of them a try, to better ascertain which might be the best ones for your particular needs at any given time in your fitness journey.
The controls to choose your desired workout program are positioned by the display screen and are easy to use and select even as you run or jog on the machine. This also goes for setting the machine’s speed and it’s level of incline.
Being able to change the machine’s speed at any given time, can be quite the valuable feature. Not only can you choose between walk, jog or run, but it also allows the user to better warm up at the beginning of a workout, or cool down at the end of the workout, to speed up and sprint for a glorious crossing the finish line moment, or take part in a High Intensity Interval Training style of workout, which features high bursts of cardio with rests in between.
On the subject of speed, the Proform ZT8 can reach a top speed of 12 miles per hour, which is really pretty fast when you consider that anything over 5 miles per hour is considered to be a running speed.
For the ultimate convenience, there’s also large cup holders available on the machine for your water bottles, right at hand, so you can keep yourself fully hydrated throughout your entire workout without ever having to leave the machine.
With regards to the different safety features at hand, you will get all of the standard safety features found across all of the treadmills in Proform’s ZT series. This includes the side plates we mentioned earlier, plus handles positioned at the front of the machine on each side of the console. And you will also find a safety key besides.
Stand out Features of the Proform ZT8 Treadmill
One of the best features of the Proform ZT8 Treadmill has to be that it is iFit compatible. If you subscribe to the iFit workout app, you will be able to create your own personalized workout regime. And you get access to a whole line of professional workout programs.
Unfortunately the iFit subscription does not come included in the price when you buy your Proform ZT8, and you will have to sign up for that separately if that’s of interest to you. In our view it’s definitely something worth looking into.
Moreover, unlike many other treadmills out on the market today for use at home, the Proform ZT8 also offers an incline function, which is great for fitness enthusiasts who are ready to push themselves that bit more, and carry out their walk, jog, or run at a slight incline. Not only does moving on an incline help to burn more calories but it really helps to tone up the leg muscles too.
Better yet, the incline level can be set automatically on this machine rather than manually. And the incline can be set up to a maximum of 12% which is really pretty good if you ask us.
The Proform ZT8 comes with ProShox Cushioning, and with this cushioning in place, rather than feel like you’re running on tarmac, you get a lightly cushioned foot fall with every stride, and consequently you get a reduced impact on your joints. This not only makes your workout more comfortable but also means you get a quicker recovery afterward.
We also love that the machine comes complete with a built in fan, which really helps to keep you cool, and prevent you from quitting early due to being too hot. This fan has two speed settings, so you can set it for a mild breeze, or get a blast of cool air if you need it.
We also love that it comes complete with a manufacturer’s warranty against defects in material and workmanship.
- Compatible with iFit! (if you haven’t checked it out yet, you really should)

So, as you can see the Proform ZT8 treadmill really does have a lot going for it, with considerably more advantages than drawbacks. And an investment in a treadmill is an investment in your health. And who can put a price on that?
